Smoking and the eye

Smoking and the eye

Smoking is one of the risk factors in macular degeneration, it constricts the blood vessels in the eye, which reduces blood flow in the eye and also inhibit the production of antioxidants in the eye thereby increasing the risk of macular degeneration.

Carrot and the eye

Carrot play a vital role in eye health because it contain carotene.Carotene is an antioxidant that can be found in other fruits but i choose carrot because it houses large amount of carotene which give it the orange colour .

Generally as an antioxidant carotene has cancer fighting properties,in the eye it fights tumours like retinoblastoma and malignant melanoma.Carotene also help to prevent macular degeneration by inhibiting oxidation of retina cells .

Hence, carrot should be taken everyday or three times in a week for proper eye and general health                                                              :by Dr chukwukere chiemena Jennifer
